Making Pizza
Aidan always wants to help me cook supper these days. One of our favorite things to make together is homemade pizza. Yesterday I decided to let him make his very own mini pizza that he could do all by himself.
Spread the pizza sauce on.
He chose hamburger as his topping. Notice he has a mouthful as well as putting some on the pizza. That is usually how the toppings get added. One for him, one for the pizza.
Added some shredded cheese and parmesan cheese (or sprinkle cheese as he would say).
And our finished product. Aidan's very own, did it all by himself, mini pizza. Can you tell he is very proud of himself? :)
My favorite pizza recipe is:
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup white flour
2 pkgs quick rise yeast
Stir. Make a well in the center and add 3 TBSP oil and 3-4 cups water.
Stir to a thin, doughy liquid.
Add 5-7 cups flour (amount of flour depends on how much water you added) I usually add about 3-4 cups and then stir and keep adding a little at a time until I can stir no more and then I knead the rest until the dough is no longer sticky.
Then I pour just a little bit of oil to coat the dough and cover it.
Let it rise about 2-3 hours.
A couple of our favorite books about pizza are:

Pete's dad decides to try to cheer him up by pretending to make him into a pizza. Super cute story and a fun activity you could do with your own children!

A funny take on the classic tale of the Little Red Hen.
